20% increase in people seeking help in 2018

1st February 2019

Swansea Foodbank opened in Gorseinon 8 years ago, and since then we have given food to nearly 40,000 people in our City.

Last year, 2018, we gave food to over 8,000 adults and children, and saw a rise of 20% in the number of people seeking our help.

We couldn’t help anyone without the brilliant support we receive from so many people – shoppers who add an item to one of our dump bins which are now located in several local stores; folk who take an item of food with them when they go to their local church or chapel each Sunday; friends in various businesses across the city who do collections in the office; and many other individuals or groups who simply drop a bag of food off at one of centres. In addition, others prefer to give us some money (it is possible to do that easily via the ‘donate’ button on our web page) so that we can top up our supplies when needed. Thank you to you all for your help!

We couldn’t do it either without our wonderful volunteers who work very hard each week, either checking food donations coming in, or packing food for someone to take home. So a big ‘thank you’ to those too.

This really is a joint effort, and we are so grateful to everyone who helps in one way or another so that families and individuals who are struggling to ‘make ends meet’ at least have something to eat. Thank you one and all!
